GRANDVIEW — The Grandview Zebras upped their record to 12-6 with one game remaining before opening district play by defeating the Hico Tigers, 55-28, on Friday.

Both teams started off with particularly cold shooting as Grandview led, 20-13, at the half.

But a strong overall performance by the Zebras in the third period held Hico to only two points, while Grandview rattled off 17 to take a 22-point lead into the final stanza.

The Zebras managed to pull off the win despite Riley Roberson scoring 12 points on four three-pointers from well outside the arc.

Jay Fuller led the scoring for Grandview with 16, while Tyler Pettit had 12.

Grandview’s final game before the District 11-2A campaign will be a road trip to Lorena on Tuesday. Tipoff against the Leopards will be at 7:30 p.m.
