MANSFIELD — The Godley Wildcats and Lady Cats each claimed first-place team finishes and district championships at the District 10-4A tournament Monday and Tuesday at the Mansfield National Golf Club.

The Wildcats shot a team score of 355 on day 1 and followed it up with a 334 on day 2 for a two-round total of 709 to best all district squads.

The Wildcats were led by Colin Price (68-70—138), who placed first individually for a second consecutive year.

Others helping Godley take the team district crown were John David (87-91—178, fifth place), Max Blair (89-94—183), Camden Darder (111-99—210) and Hagan Robertson (138-127—265).

The Lady Cats won a team district title with a score of 871, which included a stellar 415 total on round 1 before finishing day 2 with a 456. Godley had four top-5 finishes.

After finishing as district runner-up last year, Godley’s Emma Tyus took first place individually with a two-round score of 202 (96-106). 

Bailee Barbaro shot a 99-120-219 to finish third, Marleigh Thompson shot 106-114—220 to place fourth, and Kelsey Harris finished fifth with scores of 114-121—235. Dallas Lane shot 130-116—246 for the Lady Cats.

Both teams advanced to the Class 4A Region II tournament at Van Zandt Country Club in Canton. The girls tourney is April 17-18 followed by the boys on April 19-20.
