The Cleburne Lady Jackets and Corsicana Lady Tigers will meet at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Maypearl in a tiebreaker match to deterine the final playoff berth out of District 14-5A.
On Tuesday, Cleburne swept Waco University while Corsicana lost to Joshua. The two teams finished with identical 6-6 records in league play while also splitting their two head-to-head meetings. The winner of the tiebreaker match will face North Forney in the Class 5A bidistrict playoffs next week.
The Keene Lady Chargers and Grandview Lady Zebras will square off Friday to determine the final playoff berth out of District 17-3A.
On Tuesday night, both teams lost their regular-season finales to finish 7-7 in league play.
Keene lost to Rio Vista in four sets, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, while Grandview fell to West in three sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-22.
Keene and Grandview are scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. first serve Friday in Rio Vista, with the winner qualifying for the playoffs and the loser’s season ending.
With Rio Vista’s win, the Lady Zebras finished regular-season play with a 27-13 overall record and a 10-4 mark in district, with their only four league losses to West and Maypearl, the top 2 seeds.
The Alvarado Lady Indians swept Venus in straight sets Tuesday night to finish tied for second in District 17-4A.
Alvarado beat Venus, 25-13, 25-14 and 25-19, to finish 7-3 in league action.
Alvarado and Waxahachie Life will play a tiebreaker match to determine second and third seeds at 6 p.m. Friday in Venus.
The Joshua Lady Owls swept Corsicana on Tuesday night to clinch a playoff berth and the No. 3 seed out of District 14-5A play.
It’s the first playoff berth for Joshua volleyball in five years as Coach Jordan Whitworth leads the Lady Owls to the postseason in her first year as head coach.
