Former Joshua standout Andrea Lowe, now attending Northwood University, has helped the women’s golf team from the Cedar Hill school reach the NAIA Women’s Championship Tournament in San Diego.

The tournament will take place at Lake San Marcos Country Club from May 15-18.

The team is currently ranked 17th in the nation, while Lowe is 14th individually in the NAIA standings.

Two weeks ago, Lowe took second place in a regional tournament held at the Jerry S. Rawls Course in Lubbock.

In very high winds, she finished one shot off the pace, shooting an 81 on the first day and 76 on the second.

During the fall season, Lowe’s scoring average was around 78, with a sixth-place finish at Rose Creek in Oklahoma City and an 11th place showing at Lincoln Park Golf Course, also in Oklahoma City.

She has also had a great spring campaign.

Lowe opened the season with a ninth-place effort at Eagles’ Bluff GC in Bullard, a fifth-place showing at the Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile Ala. and a 12th-place performance at a tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla.

In the weeks before the regional tournament, Lowe added a second-place finish in Northwood’s own tournament, the Bluebonnet Classic at Harbor Lakes Country Club in Granbury.

At the Bluebonnet Classic, Lowe opened with an 81, but closed with a 73 to almost pick up the victory.

While at Joshua High School, Lowe qualified for the Class 4A, Region I tournament on two different occasions, reaching the state tournament as a senior, where she finished tied for 18th.

It was also during her senior season where Lowe shot a 69 on the final day of the District 6-4A Tournament at Squaw Valley to claim the individual championship.
