WACO — The Cleburne Lady Jackets began the 2020 season Thursday with a strong second-half comeback to end their season-opening showdown vs. Waco Midway with a 2-2 draw.

The Lady Jackets, playing in their first match under new head coach Aaron Babcock, faced a 2-0 deficit at halftime.

Despite playing through the rain on a grass field in the second half, Cleburne managed to battle back and even things up thanks to two goals from Allyson Reed. The first of Reed’s goals was assisted by Bailey Manuel while the second was unassisted on a free kick.

The Lady Jackets (0-0-1) will continue play in the Waco Tournament at 11 a.m. Friday against Denton Braswell. Then Cleburne will conclude play in Waco at 11 a.m. Saturday against Arlington Martin.

The Lady Jackets’ first home match isn’t until Jan. 24 against South Garland.
