The Grandview Lady Zebras coasted to a Class 3A bi-district title with a two-game sweep of Valley View on Thursday and Friday at Little Elm High School.
In game 1 Thursday, Grandview wasted little time snagging a lead with an eight-run first inning en route to a 16-2 run-rule victory.
No. 14-ranked Grandview followed up the eight-run frame with four more runs in the second inning.
Grandview senior Jada Hudson and freshman Bella Jeter combined to drive in seven runs on the night. Hudson was a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases while Jeter went 1-for-2 with a walk, three RBIs and two runs. Morgan Holliday went 2-for-2 with four runs, two RBIs, a home run and four steals while Caydin Blackmon went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Blackmon got the win in the circle for the Lady Zebras as she struck out 11 with four hits and two runs allowed.
The game 1 victory was Grandview’s 30th of the season (30-5).
In the series clincher Friday, Grandview scored in every inning for a 13-2 victory in five innings.
Faith Goodgion had a big night offensively and defensively as she hit a grand slam and finished with eight RBIs at the plate and threw a no-hitter.
Grandview plated two runs in the first inning and added four more runs in the second inning for a 6-0 advantage. In the third inning, Goodgion hit an inside-the-park grand slam to push Grandview's lead to 11-0.
Goodgion had a career night as she was 4-for-4 offensively with eight RBIs offensively. In the circle, Goodgion struck out six in a no-hit outing but did walk seven batters.
Blackmon went 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI while Laney Bell went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run.
The Lady Zebras (31-5) advance to the Class 3A area playoffs and will face the winner of Bonham and Edgewood.
