Last year, I raved about some of the amazing basketball I was lucky enough to be a part of here in Johnson County.

Godley vs. Maypearl Part III was probably the pinnacle of the experience, but most every contest I covered, especially those during the second half of the teams’ district schedules, served up more excitement than I could shake a stick at.

There are at least two big games tonight with playoff implications in both of them.

The Cleburne Lady Jackets have an opportunity to win their 10th straight game with a road victory over No. 4 Midway and move to the top of the 16-4A standings.

It won’t be easy because Midway has already defeated Cleburne, 54-37, at Yellow Jacket Gym earlier, but if you’ve watched the Lady Jackets lately, suffice it to say they have momentum on their side.

Another big game tonight will be when Godley travels to Keene to take on the Chargers for the teams’ final regular season meeting.

The Wildcats defeated Keene, 70-50, in Godley during the teams’ first meeting and hold a one game advantage in the district standings.

The Chargers will have the luxury of playing the game at Keene High School and will have an opportunity to do to the district leader what Godley did in 2009 - win the second meting and force a tiebreaker.

At times like these I wish I could clone myself.

I would give anything to be able to cover both of these games on Tuesday night, but the laws of physics once again are rearing their pesky heads and disallowing such a feat.

If I do manage to conjure up some way, you’ll be the first to know

Good thing we have cell phones.
