The Cleburne Yellow Jacket Bantam All-Stars fell just short of a victory against their counterparts from Red Oak, falling 8-0 in double overtime at Yellow Jacket Stadium Saturday in the Holiday All-Star Classic.

The Longhorns used the legs of Raymond Wilson to carry them, as he recorded 65 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Red Oak started the game with the ball in Cleburne territory, but Wilson fumbled his first carry of the game, and Cleburne’s Manuel Maes scooped it up to give the Yellow Jackets their first possession of the game. The Yellow Jackets made it to the Longhorns side of the field, but were held short on fourth down.

Red Oak went on a long drive, threatening to score, but the Yellow Jacket defense held on a fourth-and-5 attempt.

Cleburne failed to convert the fourth down attempt on their next drive, and Red Oak got the ball at the Cleburne 21. The Longhorns drove to the Cleburne 9 with under a minute to play, but Alexander Slaughter fumbled the ball on first-and-goal, and the Yellow Jackets recovered to go into the half scoreless.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team getting near striking distance, and the game went into overtime.

Red Oak got the ball at the 10 first, and got to the 2 before fumbling on third and fourth down to stay off the scoreboard.

Cleburne fumbled the ball away on second-and-goal from the 9 to send the game into a second overtime.

The deadlock was finally broken when Wilson scored on the first play of the second overtime. Franky Allison ran in the two-point coversion to make the score, 8-0.

Cleburne’s final attempt to score was marred by penalties and fumbles, with Baylon Mozon only gaining one yard on a fourth-and-goal from the 21 to end the game.

Blake Bryson led Cleburne with 12 yards rushing on seven carries, while C.J. Jarmon had 10 yards on six attempts.
