U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, and two local officials voiced disappointment over the impeachment of President Donald Trump seven days before the end of his term. 

The rules, which passed unanimously Thursday, will help govern the House during the Legislature’s 2021 session.

Texas Democrats have been unanimous in their support for impeachment. Many Republicans from the state have been opposed.

A majority of the U.S. House has voted to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time, just a week after he encouraged loyalists to “fight like hell” against election results and a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Democrat MJ Hegar has conceded in her bid to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas.

Local officials are also encouraging Johnson County residents to complete the 2020 census in April. 

The U.S. House of Representatives recently unanimously approved the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act, which would make several acts of animal cruelty federal felonies.
