Do you have an interest in old homes or enjoy imagining a different time? The Cleburne Public Library invites all history buffs to a program on historical homes in Cleburne at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the library. 


Drawings and graffiti discovered during renovation of the Cleburne Railroad Museum proved a treat and a mystery, Layland Museum Manager Stephanie Montero said. Montero said that while she’d love to see the mystery aspect solved she also hopes the uncovered art resurfaces once again at some future date.

Graffiti usually raises the ire of Cleburne’s finest and earns the tagger a citation. But not during August, at least, not at the Cleburne Railroad Museum.

One way modern-day students can learn about moments in history is by reading the personal journals of those who lived through it. Layland Museum Manager Stephanie Montero is encouraging everyone to write down what they are experiencing as the world pauses to cope with and stop the spread of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus.


The “Explorer’s Guide to Cleburne History” at the Layland Museum aims to help visitors and natives of Cleburne and Johnson County learn more about the area’s history.
