April 26 will be the last day to sign up for a first dose of the free COVID-19 vaccine at the Cleburne vaccination hub. Those who already received their first dose at the hub will still be able to get second doses through May 21.
Workers and volunteers at the hub have “not missed a beat,” Cleburne Fire Chief Scott Lail said at Tuesday’s Cleburne City Council meeting, thanks to teamwork on the part of the city, county and others.
The county’s free COVID-19 testing site will remain open at least through March, possibly longer. The site — open Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday each week — is at the Cleburne Senior Center, 1501 W. Henderson St., behind the Cleburne Conference Center.
There is light at the end of tunnel for Johnson County residents eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Though last week’s winter storms delayed the opening of a vaccination hub at the Cleburne Conference Center, it’s open in full force this week.
As a vaccination hub, CFD is expected to receive regular shipments of the vaccine for distribution. The initial shipment is for 1,000 vaccines with the potential for similar amounts on a weekly basis dependent on availability.
