Monday morning found newly re-elected Mayor Scott Cain excited about Cleburne’s future while at the same time unhappy with the low voter turnout during early voting and on Saturday’s Election Day.


Saturday’s vote decides two contested Cleburne City Council races and one contested Cleburne ISD school board race and will return three unopposed incumbents to office.


Cleburne Single Member District 1 Councilman Bob Kelly waited until the last hour to file for what will be his sixth term should he win. Newcomer Derek Weathers, however, hopes to end Kelly’s string and nab the seat for himself in May 5 Cleburne council elections.
