A solar power plant under construction in Bosque County will soon prove to be a clean energy source for several nearby counties, including Johnson.

United Cooperative Services, along with energy groups Turning Point Energy and DEPCOM Power Inc., have partnered in a project that will provide several thousand co-op customers with an option to select solar electric power in the first quarter of 2018, said Marty Haught, communications officer for United.

Turning Point and DEPCOM are developing and building a solar power plant on 105 acres in Bosque County capable of delivering clean power to United members in 14 counties, Haught said.
