CareFlite prepares to transport a patient to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth on Sunday. The Burleson Police Department reported the incident as an auto vs. pedestrian crash on southbound Interstate 35W near the Bethesda Road exit.

Burleson police and fire departments responded to two separate accidents Sunday evening, both temporarily closing the highway and causing major delays.

The first crash, at 6 p.m. on southbound I-35W near Bethesda Road, was for a possible vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

According to reports, a male in his 20s was struck by a passing car when he stopped to assist another motorist with a vehicle issue. The victim was struck when he was placing cones out to block traffic.

CareFlite responded to the scene and airlifted the man to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, where he is in an unknown condition.

The second crash occurred a few hours later, also along southbound I-35W near Hidden Creek Parkway, and both the main lanes and the service road were temporarily closed.

BPD confirmed the second crash resulted in a fatality, however, no additional details have been released.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Brenda Webster Brown, 72, of Aledo. Her cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries because of motor vehicle-motor vehicle collision (driver).
