Southwestern Adventist University will host a Wellness Counts Reversing Diabetes Program on Sept. 9 at the Crowley Adventist Church, 3200 FM 1187.
The program, which is hosted in collaboration with the Crowley Seventh-day Adventist Church, begins on Sept. 16 and teaches participants about healthy lifestyle choices. Sponsored by the university’s Center for Wellness Integration, you are invited to a free no obligation information session on Sept. 9 at the Crowley Adventist Church.
The program helps individuals gain practical tips for optimal living. Featuring coaching, presentations and interactive discussions, participants will learn how to make positive choices that will influence and improve their health and outlook on life. While tips are guided to those living with diabetes, the program is beneficial for individuals of all ages and experiences.
“Program alumni share their delight in feeling better, losing weight, and decreasing their blood sugar levels.” Center for Wellness Integration Director Terri Gibson said. “We can help you take charge of your health. There’s no better time to start than now. Please join us.”
During each of the eight sessions, program participants will receive a light healthy meal, participate in health screening activities — blood pressure, weight, etc. — and learn practical tips from various speakers and group leaders. Together they will work through The Full Plate Diet, a New York Times Best Seller textbook. Program participants will also benefit from a pre and post program lifestyle assessment as well as a finger-stick A1C screening.
The Center for Wellness Integration represents SWAU’s commitment to serve our community in and beyond Johnson County. The center focuses on creating community connections, empowering students and advocating for community members’ wellness through physical, emotional, social, spiritual and economic wellness.
The program is from 6:15-8:15 p.m. on Sep. 16, 23 and 30; Oct. 7 and 21; Nov. 4 and 18; and Dec. 2 and includes a light healthy meal. Tickets are $49.99 per person and $74.99 per couple if they register by Sept. 9 and $54.99 per person and $79.99 per couple if they register on or after Sept. 10.
The no-risk information session is 7-8 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Crowley Adventist Church. For program information and tickets, visit swau.edu/CWI.
