The city of Burleson’s marketing and communications team was honored to receive seven state awards, including three first-place TAMI awards and four Award of Excellence (second place) at the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers conference in Round Rock on Sept. 1.
This year follows up a strong campaign in 2019, where the marketing and communications took home six awards at the TAMIO conference in Denton. The 2020 conference was canceled because of COVID-19.
The awards recognize outstanding communication by Texas communities in various categories, including website, social media, video production, and publications. Judging is conducted by non-TAMIO members with expertise in communications and municipal government.
Burleson was presented with the following awards:
TAMI Awards (First place)
• Best Plan or Campaign — Your Bullet, Your Responsibility
• Best Use of Photography — Snow Contest
• Communications Planning — Branding Burleson
Award of Excellence (Second place)
• Video: Best Use of Humor — Old Town Get Down video
• Video: Recurring Program — Sharkie Teaches Swim Safety
• Best Use of Promotional Item — Burleson Babies
• Most Creative with Least Dollars — BTX BestFest
A record-breaking 435 entries were submitted, from 83 different municipalities in Texas, for the 26 categories in this year’s competition.
