Four 13-year-old Joshua residents were arrested by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Monday on charges of criminal mischief between $20,000 and $100,000 for allegedly burning down a house Sunday, Sheriff Bob Alford said.

No one was injured in the fire in the 5800 block of Black Springs Lane in Joshua.

The juveniles, two male and two female, were taken to the Hood County Juvenile Detention Facility, Alford said.

Cleburne, Joshua, Godley and Mid-North fire departments responded to the fire at 1:54 p.m. Sunday, Joshua Fire Department Lt. Wes Shipley said Tuesday.

“We could see the smoke before we even left the station,” Shipley said.

The fire burned the home to the ground and four acres of grass before it could be extinguished.

The house was vacant and was totally destroyed, Shipley said.

Detective Steve Shaw, the lead investigator, was scheduled to attend the children’s detention hearings at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the fire is still under investigation.
