Cleburne real estate agent Jean Moss will challenge Johnson County Judge Roger Harmon in the March 2 Republican primary. ‘

The victor will also be the winner of the November election as no Democratic candidates filed to run for the office.

A Cleburne resident since 1972, Moss describes herself as a political activist who has promoted Johnson County as the top area in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex region to live and raise a family.

“As a local business owner, I hope to bring a fresh, progressive view while encouraging fiscal conservative values,” Moss said. “I intend to hold the line on spending and reduce the tax burden on local citizens by making effective and efficient use of our tax dollars.

“I believe in family values, maintaining one’s integrity, and taking personal responsibility. Courtesy, morality and just plan common sense should dictate the conduct of the county judge and the commissioners court.”

Moss said her campaign will be simple and honest.

“You will not be inundated with slick brochures or signs on every corner,” Moss said.

The county judge serves as the presiding officer of the commissioners court and is often thought of as the chief executive officer of a county.

The county judge is the only member of the commissioners court who is elected by all voters in the county.
