A man driving a red Jeep died after hitting a train at about 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday.

The man, whose name has not been released, was the sole occupant of the vehicle, said Sally Ellertson, Burleson city spokeswoman.

The accident occurred in the 1400 block of County Road 921 near the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 731. The train was traveling northbound, the Jeep southbound, Ellertson said.

The man apparently disregarded the crossing arm, lights and train horn and was hit by the train, Ellertson said.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation, she said.
