Cleburne man sentenced to two years for theft

A Cleburne man was convicted of theft last week and sentenced to two years in state prison by a Hood County jury.

Christopher James Hensley, 32, was guilty of theft totaling $415 worth at the Granbury Walmart, according to district attorney Rob Christian. His lengthy record — credit card abuse, forgery amnd three additional counts of theft — resulted in the maximum sentence.

Masonic Lodge to host benefit BBQ

A benefit barbecue dinner will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at Covington Masonic Lodge.

The dinner will include barbecue, coleslaw, potato salad, beans, dessert and beverage.

An $8 donation is requsted for the meal, and proceeds benefit Scott Baccus, a cancer patient.

Square dance lessons to begin Feb. 1

Square dance lessons will be held on the second and fourth Monday of each month beginning Feb. 1.

The classes are from 7-9 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds, 1315 S. Main St.

Library to host ‘New Moon’ book club

A book club for Stephenie Meyer’s “New Moon,” a part of the “Twilight” series, will be held Jan. 28.
