Local students named to TSTC honor roll

Jonathan Bradford and John Long, both of Cleburne, were named to the dean’s honor roll for the fall semester at Texas State Technical College in Waco.

Bradford is a student in golf course and landscape management, and Long is a student in automotive technology.

The dean’s honor roll recognizes the scholastic achievement of students with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9 for the semester.

Local students among graduates at Texas State

SAN MARCOS — Texas State University-San Marcos has announced that two area students were among the graduates during spring commencement ceremonies at the university.

Bryan J. Buzbee of Alvarado received a bachelor’s degree in recreational administration, and William D. Roberts of Joshua received a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology-construction.

Cleburne Camera Club to tour photography studio

The Cleburne Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Ray of Light Images for hands-on Photoshop lessons and a tour of the photography studio owned by Chris and Marie Wiggins.

The studio is located at 115 S. Main St., Ste. 105, in Wright Plaza in Cleburne.

The Wigginses have served as judges for monthly photo contests.

“Their critique has always been helpful, and the tips they give are invaluable,” said member Dan Cathey.

They have been in the photography business and in the Cleburne area for 20 years.

JP office hosting open house

An open house for the new justice of the peace, Precinct 1 offices will be held from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 5 at 226 Featherston St. in Cleburne.

Filing for Joshua City Council to begin

The first filing day for people interested in running for an elected office in the city of Joshua is Feb. 6.

City council places open for election are mayor, Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5.

Filing deadline to be placed on the ballot is March 8.

The early voting period is expected to be April 26 to May 4. Election day is May 8.

Specific information about polling times and locations will be provided once the city council has called the election.

Airport to host fly-in Saturday

The Cleburne Municipal Airport will host a pancake breakfast, fly-in and raffle from 8-11 a.m. Saturday.

Various aircraft will be on display.

The airport will host similar events on the fifth Saturdays of May, July and October.
