Hill College financial aid staff will be available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 in the Hill College Learning Center in Hillsboro to provide free help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
The form is required for students seeking financial aid, including grants and loans.
To qualify for any federal student financial aid applicants must:
Parents and students should bring their 2006 tax information to complete FAFSA.
All information reviewed by the Hill College financial aid staff will be kept private and confidential and will not be used for any purpose other than helping the students and families apply for financial aid. Students’ and family identities will be protected to the best extent possible, and none of the information being requested will be supplied to vendors for other purposes besides applying for financial aid.
To qualify
• Be a citizen or eligible noncitizen of the United States with a valid Social Security number.
• Have a high school diploma or General Education Development certificate or pass an approved “ability to benefit” test.
• Enroll in an eligible program as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate.
• Register (or have registered) for Selective Service, if you are a male between the ages of 18 and 25.
• Have no prior or pending drug felony convictions.
What to bring
• Social Security Number.
• Student’s driver’s license number (if any).
• Student’s (and spouse’s if married) 2006 federal income tax return, W-2 forms for 2006 and other records of money earned.
• Federal income tax return for 2006 for parents of a dependent student as defined by federal criteria.
• Parents’ and student’s untaxed income records for 2006 — Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare and veterans benefits
• Parents’ and student’s current bank statements
• Parents’ and student’s business and investment mortgage information, farm records, stock, bond and other investment records
• Parents’ and student’s alien registration card (if not a U.S. citizen)
