Two Fort Worth men were jailed Tuesday and a third suspect was captured Wednesday after a shooting involving Burleson police and a Game Stop clerk.
All three face charges of aggravated robbery and attempted capital murder of a police officer.
Burleson police responded to a possible robbery in progress at Game Stop, 1001-H S.W. Wilshire Blvd. in Burleson, at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release issued by Burleson Cmdr. Doug Sandifer.
As officers arrived they observed three suspects exit the Game Stop. The suspects fled on foot and were pursued by the arriving officers, Sandifer said. One suspect, Hector Rojas Jr., 19 of Fort Worth, turned and fired at the officers and one Burleson officer returned fire, according to the press release.
Rojas and Bennie Winton Watley III, 23, also of Fort Worth, was taken into custody. The third suspect eluded police until the next day, but Sandifer said police were able to identify him as Inocente Anthony Cobio, 17, also of Fort Worth.
Cobio was arrested without incident at 3:35 p.m. in Fort Worth by Burleson officers and a Johnson County special crimes unit, Sandifer said.
A weapon was recovered where it had been thrown on top the roof at Fire Mountain Steak House, 1045 S.W. Wilshire.
During the robbery the clerk at GameStop, described as a 21-year-old Crowley man, was hit in the face with a fist and shot in the leg by one of the suspects. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital by Medstar, where he was treated and released.
No other injuries were reported.
