Tommy Joe Chaney

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released an updated version of Johnson County’s 10 Most Wanted, with one of the fugitives already crossed off the list.

Sheriff Bob Alford said the publication of the 10 Most Wanted list generated a lot of interest. Tommy Joe Chaney, 19, was arrested after an investigator with the Johnson County Attorney’s Office located him and called JCSO for assistance in making the arrest, Alford said.

Alford said in the search for Chaney, officers developed leads that led them to a residence in the 11000 block of Rolling Prairie in Crowley. After confirming that Chaney was inside, JCSO deputies and investigators with the county attorney’s office were able to take him into custody without incident, the sheriff said.

Chaney was booked into the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center where, as of Wednesday evening, he was being held on several charges. The charges include possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1 (1-4 grams), property theft ($500-$1,500) and causing an accident involving damage to a vehicle over $200. Bonds on the three charges totalled $25,000.
