Grass, vehicle and illegal burn fires, most of which resulted in scant or no damage, kept Cleburne firefighters busy in recent days.
Police responded to a grass fire at 12:06 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of North Main Street. A burning area of about 20 feet by 50 feet adjacent to railroad tracks greeted the firefighters upon their arrival. They sprayed roughly 300 gallons of water on the fire then proceeded to overhaul the area. Reports list no cause for the fire.
Cleburne firefighters, at 2:35 p.m. the same day, assisted the Godley Fire Department on a grass fire in the 12600 block of West Farm-to-Market Road 4. Multiple fire trucks were on scene when CFD arrived. Cleburne firefighters assisted with soaking the perimeter and hitting hot spots expending two tanks of water in the process. Reports list no fire cause.
Cleburne firefighters responded to an illegal burn call at 7:36 p.m. the same day in the 1100 block of East James Street where they found a resident burning small piles of trash and leaves in his backyard. Firefighters told the man to put the fires out. He did and they cleared the scene.
Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 4:42 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Hillsboro Street. The owner managed to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived. Damaged remained contained to the vehicle’s engine compartment. Firefighters checked the vehicle to ensure that no hazards remained. None did. Reports list no cause for the fire.
Cleburne police calls
Cleburne police responded to a vandalism call at 6:47 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 600 block of North Anglin Street. Someone shattered the back door window of the victim’s house.
Police responded at 3:04 a.m. Sept. 23 to the 1100 block of Davis Street. Several had called reporting the sounds of gunfire. Police were unable to find any source of the gunfire.
Police responded to a theft call at 9:29 a.m. the same day in the 600 block of North Main Street. Someone stole a deposit bag containing money.
Police responded to another theft call at 5:38 p.m. the same day in the 600 block of Dixon Street. Someone stole a cooler and a weed eater from the victim’s carport.
Police responded at 9:29 a.m. Sept. 24 to the 600 block of West Industrial Boulevard. Someone used a pickup to drive through the gates of a property and went on to steal a trailer. In the process of doing so, they also damaged another trailer.
Police responded at 3:14 a.m. the same day to the 500 block of College Street on reports of a woman sleeping in the grass. They arrested Audrey Frances Sue Ann Martin, 28, of Johnson County, on a public intoxication charge.
Police responded to a stolen car call at 8:10 p.m. in the 1200 block of East James Street. A lady said her son stole her vehicle even as she tried to stop him. Police arrested Julio Oscar Gonzalez, 41, of Cleburne, on a charge of unauthorized use of vehicle.
