Daniel Collins

Johnson County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Daniel Collins added two counts of injury to a child to his earlier charges of assault family violence by impeding breath and assault family violence.

The first two charges stem from the Burleson Police Department, the latter two from the Keene Police Department.

Burleson police on Friday confirmed that Collins, 34, of Keene, turned himself in on Monday in Hill County.

Hill County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Shane Brassell set Collins’ bonds at $20,000 each on the two counts of injury to a child.

Additional details of the charges were not immediately available.

Johnson County Precinct 4 Constable Tim Kinman on Friday confirmed that Collins resigned on Sept. 16.

Keene police arrested him on Sept. 13 on the two assault family violence charges. Johnson County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Jeff Monk the following day set Collins’ bonds at $25,000 on the first charge and $5,000 on the second.

Collins allegedly hit and choked his 15-year-old son on several occasions, according to his arrest affidavit on those charges.
