Johnson County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Jeff Monk set bond at $150,000 on a Cleburne man accused of fleeing the scene after striking a pedestrian on Friday.

Cleburne police and firefighters responded to the accident at 6:07 p.m. that day in the 1600 block of West Henderson Street.

Jemea Pollard, 43, of Cleburne, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene while crossing the street police said.

Pollard suffered major injuries and was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he later died at 8:28 p.m. that same night.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website lists Pollard’s cause of death as blunt force trauma of head due to motor vehicle and pedestrian collision.

Cleburne police searched the area and later located a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the accident. Police seized the vehicle as evidence.

Police on Saturday identified and arrested the driver of the vehicle, Seth Eiler, 24, of Cleburne.  Police charged Eiler with accident involving serous bodily injury or death, a second degree felony offense.
