Chili for the tasting and a live auction featuring a guitar autographed by Cleburne’s own Randy Rogers will highlight Saturday’s fundraiser for Christian Women’s Job Corps, set for 6-7:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cleburne Gymnasium, 414 N. Main St.
Tickets to the event will be available at the door for $10 and will include unlimited tastings of recipes prepared by local chili aficionados. Live music will be provided by the Chisholm Trail Church of Rio Vista Praise Band, with a silent auction to be conducted along the live auction.
“Proceeds from our fall fundraiser will assist Christian Women’s Job Corps in providing our students with the books, materials and supplies needed for their 12-week training session,” Director Kim Amis said. “Our mission is to empower women in enabling them to join — or get back into — the workforce with new and upgraded skills, particularly in the areas of computer literacy.
“We also teach life skills focused on the whole person. We engage our students in the power of habits, overcoming obstacles and leadership skills, as well as addressing business and computer skills. ‘I am enough’ is our motto. We want the women we serve to realize their worth, that God has a plan and a purpose for them.”
