A 38-year-old Cleburne woman died after a Tuesday morning wreck in Rio Vista.
At about 7:35 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatality crash on Farm-to-Market Road 916 about 1.42 miles east of Rio Vista.
The preliminary investigation shows that a 1999 white Nissan passenger car was traveling east on FM 916 approaching a curve. A 2019 white Hino box truck was traveling west on FM 916 approaching a curve.
For an as of yet unknown reason, the Nissan failed to negotiate the curve and drove off the right side of the roadway onto the shoulder causing the driver to overcorrect back to the left. The Nissan veered into the westbound lane of travel where the box truck struck the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan, Christy Plunkett, 38, of Cleburne was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.
Plunkett was taken to Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne. The driver of the box truck was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital by ambulance with non-incapacitating injuries and was later released.
The investigation is still ongoing and there is no other information available at this time.
