Cleburne police are seeking assistance in a Saturday sexual assault case.

The victim, a 62-year-old woman, awoke to find the male suspect in her bedroom. The assault occurred on Starling Court, directly north of Cooke Elementary School. After the assault the suspect fled on foot heading south.

The suspect is a white male believed to be in his mid 20s between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall. The suspect is of thin to medium build.

The suspect wore dark clothing, including a head covering, police said. 

Police ask that residents in the area with outdoor cameras review the footage, particularly from 4-7 a.m. Saturday.

Police remind residents to remain alert and aware of safety and security issues in their neighborhoods, to know what is normal for their neighborhoods and to report any unusual activity to police.

Cleburne police also offer the following home security tips:

• Keep windows covered with shades, drapes or non-shear curtains, particularly at night.

• Secure doors and windows with strong locks.

• Keep brushes and shrubs around your home trimmed.

• Use motion or other outdoor lighting to illuminate dark areas.
