Martin Avila has accepted the director of finance position with the city of Burleson.
Avila, a certified public accountant, has over 25 years of leadership experience and over 20 years of financial management experience in local government. He will begin his duties on Monday.
“Martin is an outstanding financial professional, and we are excited to have him join the City of Burleson team,” Burleson City Manager Bryan Langley said. “Throughout the extensive interview process, Martin displayed a wealth of knowledge and experience in a variety of complex subject areas. He is also a proven leader in public finance and will be a great addition to our community.”
As the finance director Avila will be responsible for managing all aspects of Burleson’s finances, accounting, account payable and investment management.
Avila has been part of the city of Irving’s finance team for 13 years. His most recent role is serving as accounting manager where he supervises a staff of six employees and is responsible for managing the accounting and reporting functions of the city, the city’s financial reporting and completion of comprehensive annual financial report.
“I am excited and honored to be selected as the next director of finance for the City of Burleson,” Avila said. “I look forward to being part of the city staff and serving the community of this wonderful city.”
