Lisa Chappell, a veteran Texas newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of the Cleburne Times-Review. She replaces Kay Helms, who recently retired.
Chappell is the publisher of the Weatherford Democrat, the Mineral Wells Index, the Gainesville Daily Register and the Greenville Herald-Banner, and their affiliated weekly publications in Royse City, Commerce and Rockwall County. She will continue in those roles as well.
“Lisa is an accomplished executive and seasoned publisher, and we are delighted that she will be taking on this additional role in Cleburne,” said Steve McPhaul, CNHI LLC’s executive vice president, newspaper operations, the newspapers’ parent company. “Her wealth of newspaper experience will be an asset to the newspaper and the community.”
Chappell joined CNHI in 2003 as an advertising account executive for Herald-Banner Publications. She was appointed advertising director in 2005 and publisher in 2007. In 2015, she took on the additional management of the Gainesville newspaper and was named regional sales director for the North Texas group in 2016 and group publisher for the North Texas group in 2017.
“I am delighted and honored for the opportunity to work with our very talented team at the Times-Review,” Chappell said. “Cleburne is a great community and I look forward to working with the local businesses and engaging with our readers as we continue to provide quality products and serving this community.”
The Times-Review staff has been working with Chappell for several weeks.
“We are going to miss Kay and the leadership she provided for so many years,” Times-Review Managing Editor Dale Gosser said. “Lisa has hit the ground running and has been gracious and accommodating during this time of transition. We all look forward to working with her as we continue to provide Johnson County residents with the best possible local news.”
