A Cleburne police officer whose name has not been released suffered minor injuries about 11 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Willingham Street while attempting to arrest a man wanted on a Tarrant County warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.

Jarvis Carr, 20, of Fort Worth resisted arrest, fought the officer and fled, police said.

Cleburne Fire Department paramedics treated the officer, who did not need to be taken to the hospital, police said.

Police established a perimeter around the area of the incident and took Carr into custody about 20 minutes later, after he was seen running into a house on the corner of Pacific and Brown streets. In addition to the warrant, police charged Carr with resisting arrest and assault of a police officer. Police added a charge of possession of a controlled substance after discovering crack cocaine in Carr’s jacket, police said.
