The Burleson ISD board of trustees recently approved new campus leaders.

Tricia Lyday is the new principal of Frazier Elementary School, who has nearly 17 years of education experience, five of which have been in BISD. 

Most recently serving as the academic assistant principal of Hughes Middle School, she is a former elementary school teacher and testing coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Ana Ketcham is the new principal of Taylor Elementary School, who has 24 years of education experience, 14 of which have been in BISD. 

A former academic assistant principal at Hughes for two years, Ketcham most recently served as the district bilingual and at-risk coordinator. She also taught Spanish for 17 years and holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology in Spanish from Texas Christian University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Tarleton State University.

Marcus Canonico is the new principal of Crossroads High School, who has 24 years of education experience and joined BISD in 2017. 

A former teacher, coach and administrator, Canonico most recently oversaw career and technical education for the district. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, a master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University, a Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan School of Law and is working on a doctorate in educational leadership from Abilene Christian University.

Cretia Basham is the new principal of Hajek Elementary School.

Following her passion for being a school principal, Basham is excited to return to Hajek where she served as the principal when it opened in 2008 until 2013. She has been a teacher and administrator and most recently served as the district elementary instructional leadership supervisor. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from TCU, a master’s degree from the UTA and a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas Wesleyan University. She has been with the district since 1991.
