Richard “Tex” Stanley is a 98-year-old World War II veteran who served in the Third Army under Gen. George Patton.
Stanley is fighting COVID-19 at Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South and had a special view from his hospital window on Thursday morning.
His family and caretakers, along with the Fort Worth Fire Department, lined the hospital parking lot to show support and cheer him on.
He also received a video call from Helena Patton, granddaughter of Gen. Patton, to thank him for his service and encourage him.
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Tex was smiling from ear to ear,” Nurse Manager Brandi Hopkins said.
