Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain today signed an official order as part of the current disaster declaration to fight the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of the community.

The order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Friday and orders the closure of all commercial amusement venues, theaters, gyms and private clubs.

It also mandates the cancellation of any gatherings larger than 50 people. It does not prohibit gatherings of people in multiple, separate enclosed spaces (including separate cubicles) in a single building such as different floors of a multi-level office, residential building or hotel, so long as 50 people are not present in any single space at the same time.

The declaration also does not prohibit the use of enclosed spaces where more than 50 people may be present at different times during the day, so long as more than 50 people are not present in the space at the same time.

Restaurants or any type of venues that serve food and beverages shall be limited to no more people than 50% of the established occupancy load if applicable, or 50% of existing seating or 50 individuals, whichever is less. Restaurants are directed to exercise social separation by not seating a party of more than six individuals and by maintaining at least six-feet of separation between parties. The implementation of drive-through service, curbside pick-up and delivery is strongly recommended.

The order limits the occupancy of the following locations to 50% of the established occupancy load if applicable or 50 individuals, whichever is less:

  • Event centers
  • Hotel meeting spaces and ballrooms
  • Retail stores
  • Convenience stores
  • Plazas
  • Places of Worship
  • Malls

The 50% occupancy limit or gathering limits do not apply to areas not listed above, including office buildings, government buildings, critical infrastructure such as airport and transit facilities, residential buildings, grocery stores, manufacturing and industrial locations, nonprofit service providers, homeless and emergency shelters, day cares and medical facilities.
