A staff member at Keene Junior High School has tested positive for COVID-19, Superintendent Ricky Stephens said today.
The staff member was not on campus this week and had no interaction with students, he said. The employee is going through the district's Return to School Protocol and hopefully will be back late next week.
"A reality in our world these days is that people are going to get the coronavirus," he said. "This is true in every walk of life. We will have staff and students who will either have symptoms or will test positive throughout the school year.
"KISD will do everything to mitigate the spread within our walls and ask you to do the same at home. Please do not send your child to school sick and please do not come to work sick. If you are experiencing COVID-like symptoms call us and let us know and we can switch you temporarily to virtual learning.
"It's been awesome getting the kids back to school, now we all have to work to keep them here."
