A COVID-19 drive-thru testing station has been established in the Burleson Recreation Center parking lot, 550 N.W. Summercrest Blvd. in Burleson.
The testing station, available by appointment only, is open to residents of Burleson and Johnson County. Burleson Fire Department personnel will be on-site to assist medical staff as necessary, but they will not be conducting the tests. The tests will be administered directly by Questcare staff.
“I expect a high volume and the spots to fill pretty quick the first few days,” Burleson Mayor Ken Shetter said. “I think that will probably even out as the days go on.”
Shetter said this is the only testing site planned for Johnson County for now as far as he knows.
“I hope this takes care of our needs,” Shetter said. “But we’ll advocate for more if need be.”
Testing is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To be tested, you must have a lab order from your physician. Contact your primary care physician for a COVID-19 lab order; if you do not have a physician, call 817-295-1121 to schedule a virtual visit for a test screening.
Have your physician send the order to BURLESONCARE@ENVISIONHEALTH.COM and call 682-312-2780 to schedule your COVID-19 test.
Johnson County Judge Roger Harmon said no additional sites are planned at this time.
“Not as far as I’m aware of,” Harmon said. “But it’s important that people know that this location is for everyone in Johnson County, not just people in Burleson.”
Shetter called the testing site’s opening an important in the county’s fight against COVID-19 spread.
“Because the availability of testing increases our ability to get a better picture of the situation and to quarantine those who test positive in hopes of effectively containing this and preventing further spread.”
Harmon agreed, adding that he hopes the tipping point to a return to normalcy is close at hand.
“From what I’m hearing we should reach that point in the next week or so,” Harmon said. “I’m hoping that’s the case. We all are.”
