Troy Colt Griffin, 27, of Alvarado was in Johnson County Law Enforcement Center on Thursday on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Ronny McBroom set bond at $250,000.
On Tuesday, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received a cellular telephone that was found by a citizen. The telephone contained digital images depicting a pre-pubescent child believed to be approximately 7, in the performance of sexual acts with an adult male.
During the examination of the telephone, officers were able to determine the subscriber to the phone service to be Griffin, Sheriff Bob Alford said. Further investigation by detectives revealed Griffin lives in the Alvarado area with his girlfriend.
Detectives were able to establish, through their investigation, Griffin to be the adult male depicted in the digital images.
A search warrant was obtained for Griffin’s residence along with a warrant for his arrest. Detectives along with the local Texas Ranger served the search warrant at Griffin’s residence. During the execution of the warrant, Griffin’s girlfriend, 27-year-old Elizabeth Hambrecht, was arrested for interfering with public duties.
Griffin was arrested a short time later at a neighbor’s house. Officers seized various items of digital media during the execution of the warrant, which will be analyzed by computer forensics experts. Griffin and Hambrecht were booked into JCLEC.
