Polls open today for runoff elections

Election Day for two Republican runoff races is today. Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In the District 58 state representative runoff voters will choose between DeWayne Burns and Philip Eby. The winner moves on to face Democratic candidate Greg Kauffman in November’s general election.

In the Johnson County Precinct 4 runoff Bart Basham and Larry Woolley face off. The winner faces no Democratic opponent in November.

The following is a list of Republican voting locations:

• Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 31, 32 and 34: Victory Family Assembly of God Church, 455 N.W. John Jones Drive, Burleson.

• Precincts 6, 19 and 23: St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1109 W. Henderson St., Cleburne.

• Precincts 7 and 11: Bethesda Baptist Church, 100 W. Bethesda Road, Burleson.

• Precincts 8 and 35: Precinct 3 Maintenance Facility, 10420 E. Farm-to-Market Road 917, Alvarado.

• Precinct 9: Precinct 4 Maintenance Facility, 4300 E. FM 4, Cleburne.

• Precinct 10: Alvarado Senior Citizen’s Center, 210 E. College St., Alvarado.

• Precincts 12, 13 and 29: Joshua Baptist Church, 3231 S.W. Wilshire Blvd., Joshua.

• Precincts 14, 15, 17, 30, 33 and 36: Cleburne Family Fellowship Church, 710 W. Kilpatrick St., Cleburne.

• Precincts 16 and 18: Westhill Church of Christ, 1100 Westhill Drive, Cleburne.

• Precincts 20, 21, 22, 24 and 28: Keene Senior Citizen’s Center, 207 E. First St., Keene.

• Precinct 25: Venus Community Center, 210 Walnut St., Venus.

• Precincts 26 and 27: Grandview Church of Christ, 7078 E. Criner St., Grandview.

The following is a list of Democratic voting locations:

• Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 31, 32 and 34: Johnson County Sub Courthouse, 247 Elk Drive, Room 104, Burleson.

• Precincts 6, 16, 18, 19 and 23: St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1109 W. Henderson St., Cleburne.

• Precincts 7, 8 and 35: Precinct 3 Maintenance Facility, 10420 E. FM 917, Alvarado.

• Precincts 9, 25, 26 and 27: Precinct 4 Maintenance Facility, 4300 E. FM 4, Cleburne.

• Precincts 10 and 11: Alvarado Senior Citizen’s Center, 201 E. College St.., Alvarado.

• Precincts 12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 24, 28 and 29: Keene Senior Citizen’s Center, 207 E. First St., Keene.

• Cleburne Family Fellowship Church, 710 W. Kilpatrick St., Cleburne.

  • Swinging for scholarships

    In a county full of Aggie love there is a group of Longhorn lovers giving scholarships to future University of Texas students.

    The Texas Exes Johnson County Chapter is part of the University of Texas Alumni Association. The Johnson County chapter has met officially for the past 10 years. The organization has several missions which include alumni engagement, communicating UT values and advocacy of the university. But, the Johnson County chapter has decided to focus their attention more on community service and, most importantly, supporting education.
