McNulty-Thoma

Emily Jordan McNulty and Oliver Peter Thoma were united in marriage on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at three o’clock in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Bryan, Texas.

The ceremony was officiated by Gaines West, a longtime mentor of the couple, and co-officiated by the Rev. Ted Foote. Emily’s youth pastor, Dr. David Warren, read scripture during the ceremony.

The flower girl was Reese Warren, and the ring bearer and bell ringer were Luke and Caden Warren. Music was provided by organist and pianist Chris Hoffman, friend of the groom.

Following the ceremony the couple, their family and friends celebrated with an afternoon buffet reception at the Woman’s Club of Bryan. The Woman’s Club was decorated with fresh flowers, antique handkerchiefs and teacups from the bride’s family. Family and friends danced to music provided by the Greg Tivas Combo.

The bride is the daughter of Rock and Shelly McNulty of Smithville, Texas, and the granddaughter of Max and Peggy Marsh of Cleburne, Texas, and Jenean McNulty and the late Kenneth McNulty of Baytown, Texas. The groom is the son of John and Linda Thoma of Santa Rosa, Calif., and the grandson of Oliver Reese and the late Peggy Reese of Glendale, Ariz., and the late Peter and Virginia Thoma of Albuquerque, N.M.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride chose a strapless gown with a fitted bodice encrusted with Swarovski crystals and pearls. The ball gown skirt featured organza ruffles and floral accents by Allure.

Her veil was a two tier waist length veil with a scalloped edge and hanging Swarovski crystals. She carried a bouquet of white garden roses, white hydrangea, Picasso mini calla lilies, gardenias, and a touch of white stock with stems wrapped in an antique handkerchief with antique broaches.

Callie McNulty, the bride’s sister, served as the bride’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Davis of Richardson, Kelsi Franz of Houston, Hannah Sultemeier of Fort Worth, Lauren Finkel of Cypress, and Cristina Gandia of Addison, Texas.

Konrad Johnson, the groom’s best friend, served as the best man for the groom. The groomsmen were Bryan Boyd of Austin, Jared Longoria of Bryan, Bill Simmons of Austin, Garrett Milner of Bryan, and Caleb Ryon of Bedford, Texas.

Emily graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in December 2009 with a degree in special education. She is pursuing a master’s degree from Texas A&M and teaches high school in the Waco area.

Oliver graduated Suma Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in May 2011 with a degree in political science. He will pursue his Doctorate of Jurisprudence at Baylor University Law School.

The couple honeymooned in Charleston, South Carolina. Before returning to Waco, Texas, where they will reside, the couple was honored at a reception hosted by the groom’s parents in Santa Rosa, Calif.
