JOHNSON COUNTY — Cleburne
Cleburne basketball went 2-0 against Joshua on Friday night. The Jackets ended a five-game losing streak with a 46-43 win over Joshua. Al Baylor and Marc Murillo led Cleburne with 14 points apiece. The Lady Jackets recorded a 53-29 win over Joshua as Avery Hough led the way for Cleburne with 13 points ane eight rebounds.
Centennial
The Centennial Spartans gave state-ranked Waco University all they could handle before the Trojans pulled out a 59-58 win in Burleson on Friday night.
The loss drops Centennial to 3-6 in District 8-4A play while University remained unbeaten at 9-0 in league play.
Garrett Easterling led the Spartans with 21 points. Coleman Reed added 11 for Centennial while Curtis Amos scored eight points.
The Lady Spartans recorded a 44-37 win at Waco University on Friday night.
Burleson
The Burleson Lady Elks dropped to 8-3 in District 8-4A with a 38-26 loss to No. 16 Waco High on Friday night in Burleson.
The Lady Elks took a 17-13 lead into halftime, but the Lady Lions outscored Burleson 19-2 in the third quarter.
Waco High remains perfect in district play at 11-0.
Mackenzie Hailey led Burleson with nine points and Lauren Amos added eight points.
The Burleson Elk boys basketball team fell at Waco, 61-42, to remain winless in league play.
