Lady Cats
The Godley Lady Cats remained perfect in District 10-2A play after a 51-28 win over Rio Vista on Friday night.
The Lady Cats outscored the Lady Eagles 19-2 in the second quarter to build a 31-11 lead at halftime.
Godley took relatively good care of the basketball as the Lady Cats committed only eight turnovers compared to 23 for Rio Vista.
Maelan Brown led Godley with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including eight offensively. Stacy Huckaby scored 12 points for Godley while Lyndsie James added eight points, five rebounds and three assists. Leanna James scored four points, had three rebounds and four steals.
The Lady Cats are now 6-0 in district play.
Lady Elks
The Burleson Lady Elks defeated Waco University in Waco on Friday night, 59-33.
Burleson held leads of 17-10 after the first quarter and 35-16 at halftime as they outscored University in all four quarters.
Ashley Graham’s 23 points led Burleson while Mackenzie Hailey added 16 points and Morgan Landers added eight points.
Burleson moved to 5-2 in District 8-4A play.
Lady Spartans
The Centennial Lady Spartans defeated Everman, 48-37, and improved to 2-5 in District 8-4A play.
Cassidy Barbare led Centennial with 16 points and Brooklyn Garcia scored 14 points. Madison Thompson added seven points and Meagan Benson chipped in with six points.
Elks
The Burleson Elks are still searching for their first District 8-4A win after a 49-32 loss to Waco University on Friday night.
The Elks entered the fourth quarter trailing 42-18 before they outscored the Trojans 14-7 in the final quarter.
Adrian Rodriguez led Burleson with 13 points and Vincent Spradley added five points.
Spartans
Centennial fell to 2-3 in District 8-4A after a 55-44 loss in Everman.
The second and third quarters doomed the Spartans, as the Bulldogs outscored Centennial 29-12 in that span.
Curtis Amos led the Spartans with a game-high 16 points while Doug Hopkins added seven points.
Tyrell Dockery scored 14 points to lead four Bulldogs who scored in double figures.
Wildcats
The Godley Wildcats recorded a 65-54 win over the Rio Vista Eagles on Friday night.
Devin Bolden’s 23 points led the Wildcats past the Eagles and Ryan Jimison’s 21 points.
Mark Smith scored 13 points for Godley while Drew Benge added 11 points and Trace Brown scored 10.
Joseph Chavez added 11 points for Rio Vista while James Angeley scored 10 points and Kyle Leonhardt added nine.
