CLEBURNE — Cleburne defeated Everman, 13-3, in six innings on Friday night to improve to 6-0 in District 8-4A play.
In a sloppily played game where the teams combined to commit 14 errors, Cleburne prevailed via the run rule after six innings. Everman committed eight errors.
Daniel Richardson got the start for the Jackets and pitched five innings. The senior, who improved to 4-1, recorded 11 strikeouts and the Bulldogs managed only four hits against Richardson.
Jacob Martin pitched the sixth inning and struck out the side to end the game.
The Jackets scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 12-2 lead, but the Bulldogs avoided the 5-inning, 10-run mercy rule by scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth.
In the top of the sixth inning, reserves Cody Logan and Wil Spurgeon hit a double and an RBI triple, respectively, to put the Jackets back on top by 10 runs.
Cleburne's Stevan Martinez scored four runs as he was 2-for-2 with a triple and reached base twice via error.
Richardson recorded three RBIs while Garrett Buckner had two RBIs.
Cleburne hosts Waco University at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
