BURLESON — The Burleson Centennial Spartans held on for a 35-26 win over the Parish Episcopal Panthers on Thursday on a wet night at Burleson Stadium.

The two teams combined for 12 fumbles and the Panthers lost three of them in the first half. Centennial took advantage of the Parish Episcopal miscues in the first half and took a 28-0 lead behind three touchdowns from DeMarcus Williams.

The Panthers began to grind away at the Spartan defense with their double wing-T offense and closed the gap to 28-20 in the fourth quarter behind touchdowns from Tre Vance and Coleton Uzelace.

Centennial's offense, stymied by the relentless pass rush from the Panthers, got the big play it needed when quarterback Tanner Hodges found Williams on a 50-yard touchdown pass to stretch the lead to 35-20.

Parish Episcopal scored again with 47 seconds left on a 1-yard run from Dallas Alderton, but the Spartans stuffed the two-point conversion attempt to keep it a two-score game at 35-26. Hodges finished 10-for-16 for 144 yards.
