Lady Jackets, Keene place two seniors on all-county second team
The second-team selections for the First Financial Bank All-County volleyball team were announced on Wednesday.
The team was selected by the Times-Review, coaches’ nominations and all-district selections.
Brianna Jakobsson, a first-team selection on the 3-5A all-district team headed up the Johnson County athletes chosen to the second team.
Keene’s Salitza Abrantes was a first-team selection on the District 15-2A team, and she received a spot on the second team.
Cleburne senior Haylie Marshall was voted to the second team after receiving the same honor on the District 16-4A team.
Fellow Lady Jacket senior Aley Zachary received second-team accolades after also being voted to 16-4A’s teams.
Rio Vista placed senior Lauren McFarland, a first-team selection on the 15-2A squad, on the all-county second team.
Keene senior Pearl Brown, a first-team selection on the District 15-2A all-district team, was awarded a second team spot on the all- county team where she was joined by Godley senior Tolli Wylie, who received the same honor on the District 15-2A squad.
Cleburne and Godley both made the playoffs in 2009, and while the Lady Jackets lost in the first-round to Red Oak, the Lady Cats advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the first time ever where they lost to Quitman.
