There were impressive opening round victories last week
They say you need to peak at the right time in the game of football, and what better time to do so than in the playoffs?
After seeing Godley play for the first time in person on Thursday, I have to say the Wildcats look solid, and their speed is going to be a huge challenge for anyone in their way to deal with.
An interesting note about the Wildcats is that fewer playoff teams are in the Class 2A Division I bracket, meaning Godley needs just three more victories to reach the state quarterfinals whereas Division II squads in their position would need four.
Alvarado pulverized Fort Worth Castleberry on Friday in a 63-0 victory that wasn’t even that close.
If I were a Castleberry Lion after that game, I think it would take me another 15 years to want to get back to the postseason.
Grandview bounced a solid Crawford team out of the postseason and is set up for a huge showdown with area rival Caddo Mills at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill High School.
The only option remaining for these area teams is to keep on winning if dreams of reaching the state title game are to come to fruition.
Speaking of state champions, Alvarado faces a rematch with defending Class 3A Division I champion Prosper at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Gopher Bowl at Grand Prairie High School.
After being eliminated by the Eagles last year, 29-14, in the area round, revenge against Propser would go a long way towards making Alvarado’s dream of a state title a reality.
Regardless of the end results, it should be another electric Friday.
