Cleburne places 11th at state meet, Littlejohn takes fourth

The Cleburne Yellow Jacket cross country team finished 11th at the state cross country meet at Old Settlers’ Park in Round Rock on Saturday.

Tyler Chappell finished in third in 15:35.22; Tyler Bullard was 55th in 17:21.86; Carlos Chavez was 60th in 17:25.72; Miguel Garcia was 77th in 17:56.59; Tim McDonald was 102nd in 20:08.30; Ross Kelley was 103rd in 20:08.42 and Tyler Pinkston was 104th in 21:24.31.

Godley junior Dylan Littlejohn took fourth place in the Class 2A boys’ race with a time of 16:35.15.

Cleburne head coach Brad Pierpont said the Jackets will field a young team in 2010, but said the 2009 squad has set the bar high.

“This is a stepping stone for our program,” Pierpont said. “It’s also a milestone. I couldn’t be prouder of these guys, and they came out and ran the best they have all year.

“Finishing in the Top 6 was going to be tough, but I think we ran the best we could out there.

“It was a great season for us and we ran our best race of the year out there. They know the course well.”
