Jackets compete and place high at Poteet Invitational
The Cleburne cross country teams competed in the Mesquite Poteet Invitational over the weekend and placed high in the standings.
Senior Tyler Chappell competed in the Class 5A division, but still won first place in the five-kilometer course with a time of 16:02.77.
Tyler Bullard was the next highest finisher for the Yellow Jackets with a 17th place finish in 17:16.93.
Carlos Chavez came in at 45th with a mark of 17:52.40 and Miguel Garcia was 49th in 17:58.89.
Tim McDonald placed 80th with a time of 19:29.36 while Ross Kelley was 86th with a mark of 20:02.78.
The Jackets finished in ninth place amongst the Class 5A competition with a total of 177 points.
Competing in the girls’ Class 4A and under division was the Cleburne girls’ team and Hillary McNutt topped them all with a fifth place finish in the two-mile course with a time of 12:18.21.
Right on McNutt’s heels was Layce Sloan who finished seventh with a time of 12:25.71.
Melanie Adams placed 16th for Cleburne with a time of 12:42.27 while Reyna Garcia was 39th in 13:27.27.
Right behind Garcia was Courtney Roye who placed 40th in 13:30.40.
Deanna Moser finished 42nd with a time of 13:32.80.
Nancy Olguin was 78th after clocking in at 15:01.68.
The girls’ team placed fourth overall with a total of 94 points.
Placing ahead of the Lady Jackets were Rockwall Heath, Forney and champion Rockwall.

Henderson State University true freshman and Cleburne High School alumni Zach Interrante won the 2010 NCAA Division II national title in the 100 meter butterfly at the NCAA swimming finals on Thursday with a time of 48.08, just edging out Grand Valley State's Aaron Beebe (48.32).
