The Cleburne High School swim team competed in its final meet of the season before the district meet on Jan. 26. The Yellow Jackets came in third place overall at the Winter Classic meet at Waco Midway.
The Lady Jackets came in third place with 348 points and the Jackets came in third place with 278 points. As a team, Cleburne finished with 626 points, good for third place behind Midway (1,161 points) and Georgetown (843).
Cleburne’s Victorya Johnston came in first place in the girls 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:26.28, which was more than eight seconds ahead of second place. Johnston also finished second in the girls 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:52.03
Sarah Saunders finished in fourth place in the girls 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:06.27.
The Lady Jackets’ 400 yard freestyle relay team, comprised of Madeline Steck, Johnston, Lindsey Humphreys and Brittany Harborth, came in fourth place with a time of 5:10.85.
On the boys’ side, Cleburne’s Marcus Cain finished in third place in the boys 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.91. Cain had a fourth-place finish in the boys 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.39.
Conner Keele finished third in the boys 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.14 seconds, less than one second behind second place. Keele finished fourth in the boys 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.59.
The boys 400 yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Zachary Tassin, Keele, Daniel Hernandez and Spencer Saunders, came in fourth place with a time of 3:45.93.
Cleburne next competes at the district meet on Jan. 26 in Mansfield at the Mansfield ISD Sports Complex Natatorium.
